Gemini 4 Argon Explained: Google's New Frontier Model and Who Gets It

Released September 30, 2026 for Google AI Ultra subscribers and paid API customers, at an introductory $2 in and $10 out per million tokens.

Google released Gemini 4 Argon on September 30, 2026 and calls it its next era of frontier intelligence. It is built for complex, long-horizon professional work: real-world software engineering, enterprise knowledge work such as legal and finance, and cybersecurity defense, where Google says it can find, validate and patch serious vulnerabilities on its own.

Who can use it

At launch Google opened Argon to paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers, with early access for vetted cyber defenders through its Fairwind Program. Google says wider availability for developers, enterprises and consumers comes later. It is not listed for Google AI Pro at launch.

API price

An introductory $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input 95% off. After the introductory period Google lists $4 in and $20 out.

What Google AI Pro still gives you

Google AI Pro is the plan most people need: Gemini 3.1 Pro with a long context window, 5 TB of Google One storage and Gemini inside Gmail, Docs and Vids. On PerkShelf it comes three ways:

If Argon reaches Google AI Pro later, it will appear on the same account; Google decides that rollout, not the listing.
