New-User Only and Country-Locked Coupons: How to Check Before Buying
Vendors set eligibility rules on their own promotions. Where they apply on the shelf, how to check whether your account qualifies, and what to buy instead.
Vendor promotions often come with eligibility rules. PerkShelf names them on the listing when they apply, because a code redeemed on the wrong account can fail and sales are final after delivery.
New-user only
Some offers only work on an account that has never had that paid plan.
- LinkedIn Premium: units are split into new-user and existing-account. See new vs existing.
- Spotify Premium 3 months: new users only. See Spotify Premium 3 months.
Country-locked
Some codes only redeem in the country they were issued for, such as Spotify's coupon. The listing says so when a lock applies.
Plan-specific
Many coupons apply to one row only: Cursor Individual Pro, not Teams; Descript Creator, not Business; Replit Core, not Pro. Pick that row at checkout.
How to check before you buy
- Read the product page highlights and redemption steps.
- Open the vendor's subscription history on your account to see what you have had before.
- If anything is unclear, ask support before paying.
Frequently asked questions
My account had a free trial. Am I a new user?
For most vendors, a trial of the same plan counts as having had it. Choose the existing-account option where there is one.
Can I use a VPN to redeem a country-locked code?
Vendors may still check billing country or account region. Buy the listing that matches your account's country.
